Singapore Trishaw Uncle Saga - A REAL Lesson Learnt

Filed Under (Affiliate, Internet Marketing) by joeteh on 02-11-2007

No, I am not here to discuss this incident. I sympathize with that Uncle that was being put through the ordeal. I personally condemn the actions of those tourists regardless of where they are from. For those who do not know what I was talking about, you can take a look here.

It had attracted a few thousand comments in just a few days.  OK. Why do I say that it is a lesson learnt (in terms of Internet Marketing)?  The Situation itself 1. It is unique.2. It is real.3. It touches the heart of people from all walks of life.  The reasons for such intense and fast reaction are due to: -

1. Media (Internet, Prints)/Publicity 2. Word of Mouth3. Niche Group (in this case, it is almost everyone) Put it in Internet Marketing term for a new product and you will know what I meant: -

Imagine your new product:

-A. Is Unique

B. Can be applied to real use.  C. People (Niche group) can relate to it. I am very sure that it will create massive interest.  Now, imagine this: -

You do a Marketing Campaign on it through: -

1. Media (Internet, Prints)/Publicity

2. Word of Mouth3. Niche Group (depending on your product, it can be related to golf, food or etc)  I am sure that people will be attracted to it. The major difference between the two is “One is bad publicity, One is good”.  Therefore, in Internet Marketing: - 1. Trust from people is very important. People will only listen or buy from people that trust. 2. Do not create traffic for the sake of creating traffic without benefiting to the people or yourself 3. The product (whether you are marketing or it’s your own product) is the most important. No matter how interesting your sales letter is or how good your copywriting is, if your product sucks, it will reflect greatly and badly on you in the niche community.    If people are offended that I use this example to illustrate an Internet Marketing point of view, I am truly sorry about it but please recognize it as a lesson for the good and the bad.  Finally, take a look at  one Internet Marketer who uses this kind of attention. Name: Russell Brunson

Product: 12 Month Internet Millionaire

  1. Teaser with IM-Myth report.
  2. Monetary bonus to spread the report
  3. Official Launch at special price.
  4. Affiliate Promotion with contest to prizes like Car (Hummer) and etc.

These are just my personal comments. Hopes it helps some people.

PS: To the uncle, I am sorry and sad that you have to go through this.

PPS: To the 3 tourist “friends”, I welcome you to Singapore to have fun, but NOT to make fun of Singaporeans.

    Hi, Huh,

I guess my latest submission was jumbled up and therefore difficult to read.

Actually, my comments on this saga is more on Internet Marketing point of view, rather than the incident itself.

Sorry that I did not make it clear to you.
